Last week I have been working on a task about 5 things I learned about an article called: Journey on the Sea, and you would have to make a poster or something about share 5 things you learned.

Slide the Corner

Slide the Corner

Chapters 4-8

Make predictions about what could happen next in the book.

I think that Greg ends up living with Brad and Holly for a while, because what Greg's Dad and Mum thought of him when he wanted to become a rally driver and mechanic, when his Dad thinks he should be like his siblings when Greg doesn't want to be.

Why do you think these ideas might happen?

Maybe because that's how some things have been going on with Greg, and maybe wants to move out so he can do the things he wanted to do.

Slide The Corner

For todays reading the class has picked some books to read for the rest of the term and get to pick 2-3 questions to anwser on the board.

What impression do you get from the front cover? What can you infer about the book?

I can tell that the front cover is going to be about being in a rally car and being a mechanic, with this boy and he wants to do both of those things.

Read the blurb on the back does this interst you? Why/Why not?

Yes it intersts me because I think the book is going to be intersting, it's about this boy called Greg wanting to drive a rally car and become a mechanic which is what I'm intersted in as well.

Inclusiveness

For this inclusiveness task our class had to come and work in groups of 4-5 and work on this slideshow and anwser some questions about inclusiveness and judements and why was that.

These are some questions from the slideshow:

How has this made you feel?

It make me feel like you shouldn't judge people based on what they look like because you don't know what they have been through.

How have your thoughts changed during this lesson on inclusion?

It made my thoughts change on what inclusiveness and judgement is like when people are just going to be thinking something that is

How will you respond now in situations if you were faced with them again?

If I were to face them again I would have to make sure, I wouldn't be like a person that would judge someone based on what they would look like or how they would look.

Mars Writing

Would you go to mars? And why?

For the last few weeks, we did some science and writing about what is happening with the Mars Rover and what is happening to it. And these are some facts about the Rover.

The Mars Rover is a main job to collet rock and soil samples. With the samples the rover will try bring them back to earth.

Mars helicopter is a technology demonstrastion on perseverance. Perseverance is currently undergoing their final assembly and checkout at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

The Rover had launched in July 30th and it will land in Februay 18th 2021. The trip to will take 7 months and about 300 million miles, 480 million kilometers.

Conclusion / Summary

For my conclusion I think that it's really cool to know space things, like these because some people don't know these things and get to learn the interesting things and how they happen.

Maths

Today for our maths we are doing a google spreedsheet about some reading trends. What it's for is that it's to show how much people like the author. The one I like the most is the one on the left, is because it gives more detail in numbers and shows it more easier.

Maths DLO

Last week for maths we done the Mean, Median, Mode and Range for stastics. Here is a sildeshow about for what I have done the past week.

If you liked this then please leave a like and a comment you have any positive comments.

Six Photos

For hurumanu we read a story about six photos and had to anwser some of these questions and put a paragrah for what was a interesting piece.

Six Photographs by Dylan Owen

What was the main message of this story?

That photos can show you what you have been up to in the world and what you do.

The journal article looks at 6 different photos throughout NZ history. Re-read the paragraphs which match each photo and share 1 interesting fact for each photograph that you learned.

Family of T.W Ferry

If a person would move during the time the picture would come out blurry.
Māori at Parihaka

During the nineteenth century, Māori had to adapt to Pākehā ways.

Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee

To honour Queen Victoria’s rule,
some of the girls are dressed in the national
costumes of Scotland and Wales (British Empire).

Irini Kemara

The moko kauae or chin tattoo was given to women of high rank.

Māori Farm at Winiata Taihape

Back then, you first had to clear the land if you wanted a farm. You could chop the
bush down  but fire was quicker.

Kitchen Interior by William Williams

These guns and knives tell us a different story about
our past, they may have been used for hunting or they
were even used during the Wars.

Science: Making Water

Science: Making Water

Aim:
To try and make water by using hydro gas vapor.

Hypotheses:
I think that it will make a popping sound.

Equipment:
Hydrochloric Acid, Magnesium, Glass tubes, Bunsen burner

Method:
  1.  First gently grab some glass tubes, a big one and a small one. After that get one piece of magnesium, then put it in the small tube.
  2. Afterwards go to the teacher to get some acid to pour it in the same tube and then put the big tube on top of it.
Let it sit for a few minutes then quickly try and get the gas on to the burner and try and hear a pop sound.

Observations:
What we saw was people using the tubes and opening them and putting the flame on top of a bunsen burner and trying to hear it make a pop sound.

Discussion:
What we found was that some of the experiments didn't quite work like some others, and some of the sounds were really good popping sounds which were cool to hear.

Conclusion:
At the end of the experiment it was cool to do and learn something new that was interesting.

Hurumanu Who are we

Today for our hurumanu-who are we, we read an article about 6 photos that were taken in the olden days back in the 1800s-1880s.

Why is learning NZ history important?
It's helpful to general knowledge for some people to learn about when their older.

Events in history that shaped NZ.

-Treaty.
-Voting.
-War.
-European settlement.
How can I best teach others about what I'm learning?

Making creative DLOS.
Giving more details.
Making blogs with more information.

Reading: Benny

What are some of the differences between Benny and his friend?
Benny is tall and his friend is a bit shorter then him.

How does Benny’s friend feel about Benny’s new house?
Happy and a bit jealous.

How did the boy’s mother feel about the incident?
Angry and upset.

Do you think her reactions are justified? Why/why not?
Yes because she was yelling at the two boys for her child got trapped underwater after bennys friend pushed him.

What is the author’s purpose in writing this text?
To know that you can always say no sometimes or walk away.
How do you know?
I'm guessing it's probaly about like a few other stories that I have read and sometimes the ending kind of ends like that.

What themes are explored in this text?
Joyful, Jealous, Curious, Happy.

Haiku poem - Tapa Cloth

Haiku poem - Tapa Cloth

Today we were drawing our symbols on a piece of paper with some crayon then ink it on the tapa cloth, now we are making a hiku poem about it this was my poem.

The sun is burning
The tree is tall and very high
The eel likes swimming

After we did inking, when they finshed drying we did charcol on the paper after it dried, and what we did with the charcol was outlining the lines on the crayon and colouring some of it to blend it and to make contrast.

100 Word Challenge

For homeroom we did a 100 word challenge and make something out of this picture and this is what I made.

100 Word Challenge

This incident happened a while ago these people ended up stopping to see something that was coming. When they stopped and got out of the car they saw a polar bear?! Or was it a bear..? Well anyway that was unexpected, they got scared so they all ran back into the car except one guy he got locked out accidently. Now it looked like they were playing games like: Duck duck goose, Tag, or like who can keep their hand on the car longer it looks a bit funny, or he could probably be the bears lunch.

Reading: Oakley Creek

Reading: Oakley Creek
These girls Destiny and Faith are going to swim at Oakley Creek and Faith has to lie to go with Destiny.

Where is Faith going to meet Destiny?
At the dairy after she does the morning chores.

Why does Faith have mixed feelings about the day ahead?
This was probably the first time she lied to her mum going somewhere.

What does this teach us about her?
To not lie about where you are going and you can say no if you don't want to
go.

What morning chores did Faith have to do?
She does the: Dishes, drying the dishes, wiping the bench, making the beds, and shaking out the mat.

How does Faith know that the boys have reached the swimming hole first?
They probaly used to go there all the time and know where it is.

Why does Miss think Faith is lucky?
Miss tells her that shes lucky because her mum cares enough to come and find her.

Does Faith agree? Why/why not?
No, she doesn't feel lucky because she felt nevours because she had lied to her mum where she was going and destiny really wanted her to go.

This is my poster for a cover

Wolf Facts

Wolf research.

What I did during lockdown

During lock-down I've been doing a few puzzles that are 1000 pieces, with my mum and this is one that I have finished. It took 2 weeks to do because there would some days we didn't do some of the puzzle and did the puzzle, now we have started to do a new one that has been half started.
